West Springfield Looks to Expand Police Headquarters

[West Springfield] As the West Springfield Police Department continues to explore options for addressing the issue of their outdated facilities, Police Sergeant Joseph LaFrance provided several reasons why the department is seeking a new location. One of the main reasons is the outdated facilities, which were built nearly 50 years ago and have received minimal updates since. These outdated facilities make it difficult to recruit new officers, which in turn makes it harder for the growing department to expand.

Once a plan for expansion or renovations to its current facility is drawn up, the department will require significant funding to make it happen. With West Springfield’s ongoing spending on government-owned broadband, can the town generate the necessary funds to provide the police department with the adequate facilities it needs? West Springfield must reset its priorities to ensure that the department responsible for enforcing the law and keeping people safe can continue doing so.
